Lesser Known Signs of ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is a common condition that affects both children and adults. Most people have heard of ADHD and its common symptoms: inability to focus, being easily distracted and having difficulty finishing tasks. These symptoms can be treated with regular visits to your Orange County therapist, behavioral modification and medication, if needed. But there are also some lesser known symptoms that people may not be aware of. Here are some surprising signs of ADHD:

1. Difficulty forming relationships with others. Aside from having trouble focusing during conversations, both children and adults with ADHD tend to speak before they think. This can cause others to get offended, making the person with ADHD seem less likely.

2. Difficulty sleeping. There are many reasons that people have trouble sleeping. But for someone with ADHD, shutting the mind off at night can be impossible, leading to insomnia and other sleep issues.

3. Severe mood swings. ADHD sufferers often experience severe mood swings. These mood changes are often mistaken for bipolar disorder, but in fact, they’re just a lesser known symptom of ADHD.
